10/25/2022 0 Comments Satte pe satta![]() A nice motorable road is available upto this spot and thereafter one has to hire pony or walk down to the base of Thajiwas Glacier. To reach the glacier, one may go either by riding pony from Sonamarg town or by a cab which drops near the spot “Ram Teri Ganga Maile”. Here, all the viewpoints come on the way to its main attraction ‘Thajiwas Glacier’. We enjoyed the morning amidst the splendour around the hotel and decided to see the view points in the afternoon. It lies on the Srinagar – Leh highway NH-1D. The historical significance of Sonamarg is that it was the gateway to ancient Silk Route connecting Kashmir with Tibet, China and other countries of Central Asia. It locates at an altitude of 2,740 meters above sea level and at a distance of 81 km North-East from Srinagar. On the bank of Indus (Sindh) river, Sonmarg is a small but picturesque resort town. Satte pe satta full#The name originated because the locals were impressed by the yellow crocus flowers in full bloom which covers up the valley in the spring and named the place as Sonmarg or Sonamarg. SONAMARG or SONMARG literally means the Meadow of Gold. Next day morning we woke up and saw the land of golden meadow, ‘Sonamarg’, beautiful and mesmerizing. After a nice hot bath we took our dinner early and went to sleep. With such a grand welcome we checked in the hotel. ![]() Hard to believe but true is that he is the owner of that hotel. ![]() He was dressed with a dirty shirt and pyjama. “Hello Ji! Please come, please come”, a middle aged gentleman welcomed us. We were returning from our Amarnath Yatra and it was about 7’o clock in the evening we reached Sonamarg from Baltal. ![]()
